Vision

Te Taurahere O Ngāpuhi Ki Te Tonga O Tāmaki Makaurau is focused on promoting “strength in development” for the people of Ngāpuhi.

Our vision is about providing a foundation for our people where they feel safe and well supported to strengthen and develop a destination which is achievable. Our focus is our people, strength within our people and development for our people.

Vision

We are about bringing our people together, by sharing our knowledge, we will develop a positive future for our people.

We are dedicated to our people and to those that live within our community. By coming together we combine our strength and work in partnership with all to ensure we strengthen and develop a positive future.

Goals

We have identified three achievable goals within this Strategic Plan. These goals have been derived from within the essence of our Vision and Mission.

Our goals will remain transparent to ensure we capture the essence of development, which will concede the necessary knowledge for progression by:

  • Acknowledging that the land will sustain the people

  • Building stronger whanau where people feel a sense of belonging and wellbeing

  • Wellbeing through, “Knowing who I am”

  • Restoring the cultural and people resources

  • Getting our kids to dream again

Goal One: Strategic Relationships

We are determined to ensure that our people are well connected to and have access to both internal and external services, and that the services are aligned, strongly led and tightly focused on the development outcomes that will make a difference for our people.

We aim to:

  • Work in partnership with our people and our community

  • Access Services that meet the needs of our people

  • Establish, promote and enhance our relationships with key stakeholders

  • Provide support and guidance by accessing appropriate services and/or agencies

Goal Two: Inspirational Leadership

We will uphold integrity through our proud “Inspirational Leadership”. Our ability to be successful in leading this goal for our people depends heavily upon our people and the quality of our relationships with both internal and external agencies and key stakeholders.

We aim to:

  • strengthen our leadership role

  • improve our knowledge through effective data analysis, research and evaluation – and share this with our people

  • test new ways of working in partnership

Inspirational Leadership is a catalyst for bringing our people together and bringing about meaningful results so that our people can fulfill their potential and be more engaged and actively involved within our community.

Goal Three: Whanau Development

We are about strength in development for our people and their whanau, where all members are supported to achieve their maximum strength and aspirations. Placing whanau at the centre of this goal, challenges us to recognise the interdependence of our people and the importance of working with our people in their social context.

Whanau, iwi and local communities have a pivotal role to play in achieving within whanau through whanau development and community led initiatives. In turn, we remain committed to reducing inequalities, by making more services available, appropriate and accessible.

We will aim to:

  • co-ordinate, interact and utilise holistic models

  • encourage full participation

  • address and reduce the barriers

  • promote quality health education

  • create employment opportunities

  • address sustainable housing

We will approach and encourage our people to develop the definition of whanau development through the following factors:

  • influencing whanau development as a holistic approach where physical, emotional, whanau, education and employment needs are interlinked

  • Te Reo and Tikanga Maori and the revival and teaching of traditional Maori Arts and other practices

  • Initiatives to reinforce identity and self-esteem among whanau
